AIR Fund Workshop - Blockchain & Asset Management The First Blockchain Based Funds Wiki - OneWealthPlace

Blockchain technology is a transparent distributed ledger capable of recording transactions between several users in a permanent, verifiable and crypted manner. During the AIR Fund workshop, Julien Maldonato, Innovation Consulting Partner at Deloitte France, explained the stakes of this revolutionary technology. He states that blockchain is to value what internet is to information. With this technology, data, documents and services are distributed, immutable, traceable and secured. Those characteristics are what motivated the AIR Fund team at OneWealthPlace to create the first blockchain based funds wiki, under the supervision of Paul Bureau, former Head of Digital and Data at Lyxor Asset Management.

The platform is aimed at asset managers and distributors permits a great pooling of costs otherwise heavy in data purchase and management as well as IT interfaces, all of this thanks to an entirely decentralized system. Participants have a completely free access to the standardize referential of ETF and UCITS funds, administered directly by asset managers. AIR Fund is comprised of functionalities tailored to back/middle office tasks (data extraction and dissemination, regulatory constraints, quotation package, etc.) as well as innovative front office solutions (digital reporting, fund allocation/selection, specific distribution service, etc). The live demonstration on the platform walked us through the process by which participants can access and update the data of ETF funds. The private blockchain’s collaborative system (push/pull) managed by asset managers themselves allows for a smooth and easy use, reducing costs, thus creating a subsequent margin that is precious for asset managers.
